Following the launch of the Sealskinz Vitae range, the Aspire team have been putting the Lynford Waterproof Canvas Bucket Hat through its paces. Here’s how Layla, Becky and Tania got on:

What is it?

Stylish canvas bucket hat from Sealskinz’s new Vitae collection. Fitted with Sealskinz’s three-layer Aquasealz™ waterproof membrane and a small pocked for valuables – it’s the perfect headwear come rain or shine!

Who is it for?

The Lynford Bucket Hat is a product for a wide audience, from festival goers to campers and dog walkers, it’s multi-functional, fully waterproof and comes in a range of fun colourways to brighten the rainest of days.

VERDICTS:

Founder and CEO, Layla Smith:

Just love it! This is a product that makes you smile.

Firstly, the colour combination really grabbed me on the website. There has also been a big change in terms of packaging from Sealskinz from a sustainability perspective, which is massively welcomed. The package now arrives in a paper bag, with the product in a decomposable bag. Congrats Sealskinz on the fast progress here!

There are some lovely features, which include a size adjustment cord, a pocket at the front – which is small, but not too small to actually be useful and some fun messaging inside the hat, which gives it some real personality!

Quality jumps out from first touch, this is a product that is made to last, which is also a massive plus from a sustainability standpoint. It fits really well, you feel protected and can tighten or loosen to suit the weather or situation. It really is waterproof! I’ve said this before about Sealskinz products, but you have to put them to the full test to believe it (i.e. walking through a puddle in the socks). They are fully waterproof, which we tested by creating our very own family Sealskinz Bucket Hat challenge in the garden with a watering can. I think I might have enjoyed it much more than our 6-year old daughter.

Aspire’s Account Director, Becky Hepworth:

What first attracted me to this bucket hat was the colour – subtle tones of blue, pink and green that blend nicely with my surroundings whilst out walking my dog or paddling down the river. Oh and the minimal and sustainable packaging.  Not only is the hat a perfect fit in terms of style but it also fits really well. I wear the small/medium which sits really comfortably on my head and doesn’t shift when I’m moving about. It also features a discreet adjustable bungee so you can make it tighter if you’re looking for a really snug fit.

Another favourite design feature is the small pocket with button to ensure whatever you pop in there stays safe. The pocket is the perfect size for your credit card, a couple of keys or a handy place to store poo bags! With very sensitive skin, head and face coverage is really key for me and this hat delivers both and more. Its design means a large area of my face is covered but still allows great visibility and the breathable materials means my head stays cool and my hair remains in place!  So happy to have finally found a hat that not only looks good, but also keeps me safe in the sun and is waterproof should I take a topple on my board!

And Finally, Aspire’s Creative Content and Community Lead, Tania Lewis:

I’ve had the opportunity to try out various Sealskinz products in the past, and I must say, their new range has really caught my attention with its vibrant colours. The Vitae range stands out with its khaki, pastel pink, and deep red options, which instantly won me over.

Among the choices available, I went for the green, pink, and blue Lynford Bucket hat, and I was not disappointed when it arrived. The hat features an adjustable cord for a perfect fit and even includes a small pocket for keeping valuables safe. The design balances style and practicality flawlessly.

I decided to put the hat to the test on a three-hour walk through the rainy South Downs, from Brighton to Lewes. Despite the forecast predicting non-stop rain and no sunshine, the Lynford hat stayed securely on my head and kept both my hair and face perfectly dry throughout the trek. Usually, this kind of hike would leave me looking dishevelled, but thanks to the Lynford hat, I arrived at a brewery without a trace of panda eyes in sight. It definitely gets a big thumbs up from me!
