Let’s get to know Tania a bit better!

Career background & highlights…

I left University with a Degree in Fashion & Marketing and started out my career at an advertising agency on a grad scheme. After 18 very stressful months I spent the next few years in events and publishing and worked for Stylist Magazine for 3 years before going freelance. I had over 2 years of working with a diverse mix of brands from John Lewis and AllBright to a yoga studio in Peckham, before landing a role at Aspire PR.

Role at Aspire…

I’m responsible for social media, creative content and community management across Aspire and client accounts.

How far removed is your childhood dream for what you are doing today?

Pretty far! I wanted to be a chef when I was little, and I was obsessed with baking. It’s safe to say my family got pretty sick of my fairy cakes.

Best adventure?

After University I spent some time in Indonesia teaching English in a Muslim school and living with a local family. I learnt so much about their culture, education and way of life. It was an incredibly rewarding experience.

Adventure you most desire?

I’ve been lucky to have done some amazing trips, but the adventure at the top of my list is Sri Lanka. I’d love to travel by train from Colombo to Kandy through all the lush jungle, finishing up with a few days of yoga in the mountains.

Someone you really admire?

Joanna Lumley. I was a big fan of Ab Fab and since then have become obsessed with her. She’s a travel lover, activist and animal lover with a real zest for life. She’s a true icon and national treasure.

What kept you going during lockdown?

Getting outdoors. Without my daily walk to the park, woods or by the canal I would 100% go mad. Amongst the chaos and bad news, being present and connecting with nature is very calming. My morning coffee is also a daily lifeline.

Something the team doesn’t know about me but they do now?

I’m (distantly) related to Olivia Newton-John/Sandy from Grease. I’ve never met her, but it’s my most impressive claim to fame!

What’s recently grabbed your attention?

The ‘slow fashion’ movement has recently caught my attention. Although it’s been an important issue for many years, I’ve definitely noticed a bigger surge in brands striving for B-Corp status. Established brands are taking action, as well as lots of emerging brands being actively transparent about their supply chain, their environmental impact and how they treat their staff. It’s a huge step in the right direction!

What do you love about this industry?

The community. Nothing brings people together more than a shared love of movement. It creates connections and enables people from all walks of life to come together.

Outside of work Tania enjoys going to the gym and fitness classes, long walks, art (when I have time), weekends away and trying out new restaurants with friends.
